A single estate coffee, crisp and a bit sweet with a toffee aroma and a medium, creamy body.  Look for notes of brown sugar, orange, red apple and a balanced, quick finish.

Bio

Salvador Apaneca comes from the famed producers of Finca Malacara. It dates back to 1888 when the Alvarez family inherited the land and started planting coffee. The farm now spans 4 generations and has since grown from it's original size, now producing coffee outside of the Malacara name. Las Mercedes is a newer farm for the family. The farms are located near the Santa Ana Volcano in the Apaneca Lamatepec coffee region.  This area is known as the "Gold Coffee Belt" of El Salvador. 

SHG means both "strictly high grown" and "strictly hard bean" and represents coffees grown above 4500 feet above sea level.  Coffee grown at high altitudes mature more slowly and grow to be harder and denser than lower elevations. This combines with greater consistency and taste attributes to make them more desirable, and generally more expensive.
